The Settings
Down Syndrome Centre DSC is Ireland’s only charity dedicated to clinical, educational and wellbeing services for children with Down syndrome from birth to 18 - and their families. It was founded by Peter and Mary Gaw as a result of their frustration at not being able to access relevant services for their two youngest children, both of whom have Down syndrome.
DSC provides approved approaches at the earliest opportunity to assist children with Down syndrome in achieving developmental milestones throughout their journey to adulthood – reaching their full potential and participating in society. Their team of speech & language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and teachers provide personalized services that evolve with each child’s growth.

The Cognishine - DSC Story
The Down Syndrome Centre has been using Cognishine since one of their SLTs came across it during covid lockdowns as a tool for tele-therapy practices. Since then their use of Cognishine has only grown. Cognishine's versatility enabled it's use in DCS's pre-teen and teen group therapy sessions focusing on self-care, independence and social skills, along with their AAC groups (helping children and their parents to practice using their communication devices).

„Die Erholung nach einem Schlaganfall kann eine Herausforderung sein, aber mit der Unterstützung und den entsprechenden Aktivitäten von Cognishine wird jeder Schritt spannender und erfüllender. Cognishine hat uns geholfen, die Motivation und das Engagement unserer Patienten aufrechtzuerhalten, indem wir Momente geschaffen haben, die den Weg zur Genesung nachklingen lassen und stärken.“
