מחקר עם המרכז הרפואי האוניברסיטאי של ליברפול (Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust)
Objective
This pilot study aims to evaluate the feasibility, usability, and user experience of Cognishine for treating cognitive and language impairments in adults with acquired neurological disorders within a large NHS Trust.
The study is being conducted within Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT), one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK. LUHFT oversees several major hospitals, including the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Aintree University Hospital, and Broadgreen Hospital, and serves a large and diverse population.
Study Preparation
To prepare for this study, staff were provided with extensive training on using Cognishine. These training sessions were designed to ensure that participants were thoroughly equipped to implement Cognishine in clinical practice and covered the following areas:
- Patient Identification: Guidance on identifying suitable patients using a non-identifiable ID within the platform.
- Platform Functionality: Practical training on locating, using, saving, and sharing activities.
- Cognishine in Practice: Hands-on sessions enabling staff to explore the platform and practice activities with real-time support.
- Support Systems: Establishing robust communication channels, allowing staff to contact the UK Cognishine team via Teams, phone, or email for ongoing assistance.
This rigorous preparation has established a solid foundation for successful implementation and patient engagement.
Expected Outcomes
The study aims to demonstrate:
- High user satisfaction: Among patients and healthcare professionals.
- Patient Engagement: Active participation in therapy sessions and practice beyond the clinical setting, facilitated by support staff, carers, and other key stakeholders
- Positive Rehabilitation Outcomes: Progress in cognitive and language rehabilitation among participating patients.
The findings from this pilot will contribute to the design of a larger multi-center trial.
Timeline
The study protocol has been accepted, and the project was launched in November 2024. We anticipate completion within a year, with initial results providing valuable insights.
